What fundraisers use it for

Funders, donors and supporters are busy. A two-minute video gets your case across in the time they have, with the evidence behind it.

Funding bids and grant applications

Where a funder accepts a video, or for the conversation before you apply: the need, what you will do, who it helps and what it costs, explained from your own application. Always check a funder's guidance on what they accept.

Reports to funders

An end-of-grant or progress report, explained with the outcomes you achieved, for the funder's staff and the board that decides on your next grant.

Appeals and campaigns

An appeal, a campaign or a petition, explained for supporters on your website, in email and on social media, with captions so it works with the sound off.

Thanking supporters

Show donors, members and volunteers what their support achieved this year, in your own figures, so they can see their gift at work.

Corporate partners and major donors

A partnership proposal or a case for support, explained for people who will share it inside their own organisation.

Built, not generated

Nothing garbled for your team to catch before it goes out. Every word on screen is typeset and every chart is plotted from your own numbers, rather than painted by an AI image or video model. No made-up facts: each line of the script notes where in your document it comes from.

The whole process, from document upload to finished video, takes just a few minutes.

No booking in and no briefing call: the video can be ready for the appeal launch, the funder's deadline or the campaign day.

Two rows of stages. A typical agency, five or six sign-offs: brief, script, storyboard, style frames, animation and final mix, each ticked. Explain My Charity, two sign-offs: only the script and the video are ticked, and the other stages are empty.
Your team's sign-offs, stage by stage. The agency stages are from the studios' published process pages (sources below).

Sources: the published process pages of Yum Yum Videos, Gisteo and Epipheo, which list five or six client sign-off stages, read 27 September 2026. More on how we compare.

Before you upload

  • Who it is for. A funder's assessor, a regular donor and a first-time supporter need different videos. Tell us which, and the script is written for them.
  • Your own figures. The video says only what your document says. If a figure is not in the document, add it there first, with its source.
  • People's stories. If your document includes a beneficiary's story, check that you have their consent for it to appear in a video, and leave out anything that would identify them if they have not agreed.
  • Fundraising rules. The video is your communication: check it against the Code of Fundraising Practice as you would any appeal.
